S1s Watch Scottish Thistles

What a great first game of netball the S1s got to watch at the Emirates last week. A party of 12 went to see Scotland Thistles vs Barbados st the Emirates Arena. Scotland were on fire from the first centre pass and they went on to win convincingly. All the girls enjoyed watching the game and we hoped they learnt some new moves to take to the court for their next game.

Sponsored 5km 2021

Hello,

You are invited to take part in the Sgoil Ghàidhlig Ghlaschu Sponsored 5km 2021. This 5k is to be done within your local area, following Government guidelines, at any time during 30th April to 3rd May. We would like as many people as possible to get involved - staff, pupils, parents. Please encourage your friends and family to sign up, get out training and fundraise over the next 6 weeks. Pace does not matter; you can go as fast or as slow as you like, it is up to you how you complete the distance.

We are raising money for the following charities:

Trussell Trust - stop UK hunger - https://www.trusselltrust.org/what-we-do/
MacMillan cancer support - https://www.macmillan.org.uk/
SAMH - for Scotland's mental health - https://www.samh.org.uk/

Asthma UK - asthma research and support - https://www.asthma.org.uk/scotland

All four of these charities are close to our hearts and we feel they play a crucial role in helping provide support for people in times of need. The total raised will be split equally between the four charities. I have attached a sponsorship form for you to record your donations. I have looked into options to donate electronically however the only feasible way to do this is with cash.

Please bring all money raised to me on Tuesday 4th of May in an envelope marked SGG 5K with the participants name and total. I will be in the tàlla spòrs from 8.45 am - 9.00 am, morning Interval 10.50-11.05am and lunchtime 1.00-1.20pm.

Here are a couple of websites to get you ready for the big day:

https://www.runnersneed.com/expert-advice/training/12-weeks-to-fitness-beginners-5k-training-plan.html

To record your training you could download strava onto a smartphone for free. Our online club is called Glasgow Gaelic School which you can join. Another app for recording time, distance and speed is mapmyrun.

We would love to create a display of all the 5km participants on our notice board so please send me your photos by email or take them along with your sponsorship money.

If you have any questions about anything then please don't hesitate to contact me.

Have fun and good luck

Personal Development Programme

Happy New Year to all our pupils and staff at SGG!

We’re sad not to be in school as normal but we will be back to normality soon.

To keep you going over the next few weeks I have set out 3 personal development programme options for you to follow. Select programme A, B or C depending on your current fitness level. If you follow this programme you will develop your fitness in preparation for coming back to school PE, extra curricular club sport and any practical performances you may have if you’re doing SQA PE. This has been sent to you on Show My Homework too.

If you have any questions about this then get in contact via glow.

Good luck!
