Netball vs All Saints

Both the S1 and S3/4 Netball teams played their first league match against All Saints Secondary. The girls new that it would be a difficult night of netball as All Saints always have good teams right throughout the school.

The S1s played first. The starting team was:

GK Iona
GD Sophie
WD Anna
C Annabel
WA Abigail
GA Alison
GS Seona
Sub Eiliidh
Sub Rachael
Sub Mia

The girls played some fantastic netball throughout the game. Sophie who was playing GD for the first time, played very well. Annabel put in a great shift at centre and Alison and Seona combined well to score 15 points between them. Mia, Rachael and Eilidh all came on for the second half and played well. For Mia and Rachael this was their first ever competitive game so it was a whole new experience for them on a full sized court. The final score 17-7 to SGG. The girls should be pleased with how they performed. The focus should now be to develop fitness levels.

The S3/4 Team started with:

GK Yvonne
GD Katrin
WD Daisy
C Sarah
WA Morag
GA Lauren
GS Aimee
Sub Tamlin
Sub Margaret

The team which was playing together for the first time settled into the game quickly. Aimee and Lauren were making most of their chances. The girls had some difficulty with the very good All Saints Centre who was quick and moved well up and down the court connecting defence to attack, so concentration levels had to be high. Daisy played well to keep track of the WA who was always a threat on the attack. SGG had some very strong performances throughout the team. The new shooting combinations of Lauren & Aimee, Tammy & Aimee and Lauren & Tammy were fantastic. Lauren scored an impressive 10 points. Yvonne who normally plays shooter played well in her first game at Goal Keeper. It was a very close match with SGG winning 21-14 in the end. Well done girls!

Girl of the Game: Lauren
