Rugby Success for Anna Smith S2

Congratulations to Anna Smith who was part of the winning girls rugby team in the final of the Scottish Schools Rugby Cup Final.

Anna plays tight-head prop for Hillhead/Jordanhill Girls Under 15 (otherwise known as the mini Hill Jills). The competition they won was the Brewin Dolphin U15 Girls Shield on Friday against The Nicolson Institute Stornoway Isle of Lewis.

The Brewin Dolphin Girls’ Cup is open to schools, rugby clubs and also to composite teams and is played at two age levels – under-15 and under-18.

Teams move through the Girls’ Cup competition by playing qualifying tournaments in their local region, followed by a seeded knock-out contest that matches teams up with competition on an appropriate level, in either the Cup, Shield or Bowl competition.

The senior Hillhead-Jordanhill women's side are currently top of Premier 1 and have a substantial number of current and former internationalists in the side, several of whom are involved in the girls' training sessions which are held on Wednesday nights at Hughenden.
