Sirens Netball Festival
Netball Playoffs Confirmed
Our S1 and S2 Netball Teams have played exceptionally well this year and have progressed through to the Netball playoffs. The playoffs include the top two teams from each of the two leagues in Glasgow. The draw has been made and I can confirm that the S1s will face St Andrews Secondary at home and the S2s will face Hillhead. Both games will be tough as they both performed very well in their group games. The S2 game will be taking place tomorrow night, no rest for the team as they are just back from the International tournament in Paris. The team will however be understrength as starting player Rhuibn is unavailable for this game so we will need everyone to come ready to play their best. Good luck to both teams in their quest to reach the finals.

SGG are the Champions! Again! That's two in a row and three in five years for SGG. No school has won two years in a row before, what an achievement from our athletes. Our team accumulated 271 points out of a possible 280, an unprecedented total. This result is even more impressive considering the standard is getting harder and harder each year, this years was by far the most competitive.

Our team on the day were truly magnificent, regardless of the points total our team were enthusiastic, motivated, showed great team spirit and put their full effort in for each event. I cannot thank you enough for your efforts on the day.

After each individual event our pupils went into the relays. This involves a 6 x 100m relay. Both our teams qualified for the final which in itself is quite an achievement since there were 17 teams taking part. Our girls went first and they were absolutely brilliant, winning in a record time and their victory means that is 5 years in a row which SGG girls have won the relay race at these Championships. Our boys had a very competitive final and it came down to a very close finish, with 3 teams neck and neck in the final change over but it was All Saints who came through to take the victory and SGG 2nd! What a performance from the boys it what was the most competitive boys relay ever at this competition.
I have to say I was really impressed with all our competitors, a big thank you and congratulations to you all for making history! 2 in a row and a record points total!!!
