Tunnocks Shinty Tournament

Congratulations to the two girls teams for making SGG history. You are the first girls to represent the school at shinty. The two teams played in a tournament vs 3 teams from Uddingston and a team from Kinguisse. This was our first ever experience of the full game of shinty and on a grass pitch! The girls got better with every game after losing the first three the SGG Nashville’s beat an Uddingston team 1-0 then beat SGG Red and Blacks 2-0 so they progressed to the semi finals. They were up against Uddingston 2s who beat them 1-0 earlier the day. The girls put a brilliant performance in to win 2-0 against the odds. This meant the team reached the FINAL! What an achievement! Kinguisse won 3-0 but the girls played well, Sophie Allison was highly complimented by the opposition coaches for her heroics in goals. Mr Thompson the organiser also commented on the improvement of the team throughout the day. Looking forward to more shinty competitions next year! Well done to both teams!

Glasgow Schools’ Gymnastics Floor and Vault Championships

Well what a month March was for sport at SGG!

Giant Heptathlon
Glasgow City State Schools Cross-Country Championships
Scottish Schools Quarter and Semi Final Games
Etc!

The Gymnastics is a relatively new sport for us to compete in. In Fact this only our third time at the Glasgow Schools Floor and Vault Champs. We had a very successful day:

Our level 1 team finished 4th.

Our level 2 team took home Team Silver

And

Our Level 3 team were crowned Champions along with Bannerman

What a fantastic day at Bellahouston!

Thanks to all the gymnasts for all their efforts in the lead up to this event. Even better news is that all our competitors apart from one were in S1 or S2. Muireann our oldest competitor is only in S4.
