Scottish Schools' Indoor Athletics Championships

The athletics team performances over the last few years have been excellent. This year we attended the Scottish Schools' Indoor championships at the Emirates arena. This was the second year the school has entered the two day event. As there are entry standards for each individual event, the championships is filled with experienced athletes. The SGG athletics team again performed exceptionally well and have set the bar even higher than before! Here's a summary of how each athlete got on:

Day 1
Daniel Moran - 11 second Personal Best in the 1500m
Erin Moran - Seasons Best in the 200m
Jacob Connelly - Personal Best and semi finalist in the 200m
Eilidh McDougall - Personal Best and semi finalist 200m

Day 2
Shona Carey - Personal Best in the 800m
Annabel MacDonald - Personal Best and semi finalist 300m
Erin Moran - Personal Best and semi finalist 300m
Lewis Conley - Personal Best 800m
Lewis Grimmer - Personal Best and semi finalist 400m
Jacob Connelly - Semi finalist 400m
Eilidh McDougall - Personal Best and 60m FINALIST!!!

Special mention must go to Eilidh who became the first ever pupil from the school to get to a Scottish Schools Athletics Final. To give you an idea of the scale of her achievement there were over 80 entered in her event and she progressed through the rounds and got into the final 8! This was after having ran two fast 200m (a 26.65 personal best and one of the top 6 times of the day) the day before.

Well done to all competitors, you were absolutely fantastic.

Cambuslang Schools Cross Country

The school was invited to the Cambuslang Schools Cross Country Race. This was the first cross country race for many of our runners.

Fionn Graham finished 10th and Connor Walker 11th in the S1 Boys event. They were supported by Robert 19th, Seamus 23rd and Aaron 24th.

Shona Carey ran very well to finish 2nd in the S2 Girls Race despite not feeling 100%. Mirren was 10th, Kristen 18th, Chloe 21st, Sileas 22nd, Abigail 24th, Seona 25th and Eilidh 26th. The girls finished 3rd Team.
