Scottish Schools' Road Race

Congratulations to the SGG team who went to the Scottish Schools Road Race in Falkirk and competed very well. The race attracted the best runners from around the country so this was a good opportunity for our athletes to see where they stand with the best of the best.

In the S1/2 Girls race Shona Carey ran well to finish in 62nd position. Peggy-Nan who was making her first appearance for the school athletics team performed well throughout the race to finish in 91st position. Top 100 was the target for the girls so they did well to finish strongly with over 180 taking part.

In the S3/4 boys race they packed very well: Andrew Carey finished in 68th position, Calum Brown 78th, Ruairidh Harris 82nd and Benjamin Campbell 87th. Credit must go to Ruairidh Harris who was making his first appearance for the school athletics team. Ruairidh has worked hard over the last 3 and a bit years to develop his fitness and is now a very strong runner. We look forward to seeing how much further he develops.

In the S5/6 girls race, Amy Craig who had just completed her first 10km race at the Great Scottish Run ran well to finish in 41st position. Amy still has another year at this age group.

In the S5/6 boys race, Daniel Moran was against the most competitive field of the day. Daniel who is in S4 but with his date of birth he just missed out on being able to run the S3/4 age category. Daniel ran a brilliant race to finish in 27th position. This was the performance of the day from the school. Daniel will have two more years at the age group and will no doubt be determined to get into the top 20.

Well done to all competitors!

Swim Team Success

Congratulations to the swimming team who performed fantastically well at the Glasgow Schools Heats. Patrick Connor, Abigail Cavanagh, Kara MacDonald and Hannah Mason all got into their finals for their events. Patrick swam his backstroke  final on the heats night and finished in 2nd place to pick up his first Glasgow Schools Swimming medal, well done Patrick.

Good luck to all swimmers for the finals night on the 31st including Amy Craig who goes in the open event. Unfortunately Kara and Abigail will miss this event due to a clash with Loch Eil. They'll both be back next year though.
