3 of the world's most successful rugby 7s team came to visit the Glasgow Gaelic School. The players were greeted by a enthusiastic crowd of pupils and staff. The players were greeted by some traditional Scottish music thanks to the S2 boys band. The players then got to see the Primary pupils perform their own Gaelic School Haka which was fantastic. The NZ 7s then opened the floor for some questions from the pupils and they were grilled on everything from diet to training to who would win in an arm wrestle. The S2 Boys rugby 7s team then got to take on the NZ 7s team for the audience which was a great experience for the rugby squad. Finally the NZ 7s signed 100s of autographs and took a number of photos for pupils, staff and did interviews for the various broadcasting companies that were their filming including BBC Scotland, BBC Alba and SkySports. A big thank you to the NZ 7s for visiting our school, your visit was very inspiring to our pupils. Hopefully we will have a good number of rugby enthusiasts coming through the ranks at Sgoil Ghaidhlig Ghlaschu.

Feis Spòrs
The school had a fantastic representation at last weekend's Feis Spòrs! The event was held at Lochich playing fields in Pollok Park! The event was also the final showcase of the Sports Leaders Training. The S3 group have been completing their sports leaderships level 1 qualification over the last year. The group have had numerous opportunities to take part in helping run extra curricular clubs, assisted with the Primary Sports Day and this event was the final chapter of their training. A big well done to all helpers who have up their afternoon to ensure the day went smoothly, this event would not have gone ahead without your support! Moran Taing a huile duine!
Glasgow Schools Athletics Championships
Athletics in the Gaelic School has really got bigger! More pupils have turned up for training this year and have been working hard to improve their performances. This year the school had it's best showing at the Glasgow Schools Cross Country Championships. This year the track and field team were determined to do the same!
Jacob Connelly and Rosie Urquhart fought off stiff competition to make the final of their track events. Jacob ran a personal best to get to the final of the 400m, as did Rosie in her 200m. The finals are very competitive as the qualification involves many experienced athletes from all schools in Glasgow so Rosie and Jacob did exceptionally well to qualify.
In the 200m Rosie finished 7th in her race, she was pleased with her performance and felt she did her best on the day. She's running a lot faster than last year and looks to better her finishing position next year. Rosie deserves special mention as she was playing Netball for the school team in the morning before her finals race in the afternoon. She played 3 games of Netball for her warm up. Well done Rosie.
Jacob Connelly did what no other pupil from SGG has done before and that's win a medal at the Glasgow Schools Athletics Championships. Jacob smahed his previous best from the qualification rounds to dip under the 60 second barrier for the first time and get himself a bronze medal! Congratulations Jacob! What a terrific performance in such a specialised event against a strong and experienced field.
