Man City vs Arsenal

A group of 33 pupils and staff travelled down to Manchester on Saturday December 14th to watch Manchester City vs Arsenal at the Etihad Stadium. For many of the group it was their first ever experience of going to a football match, they could not have asked for more. The seats were amazing and the pupils were able to clearly see all 9 goals which were scored (not including the 2 dubious offside decisions) with the final score Manchester City 6 - 3 Arsenal!

What a game! Everyone who travelled had an enjoyable time and I think Sgoil Ghaidhlig Ghlaschu my have a few more Man City fans now.

Schools Baton Relay

A big well done and thank you to Mrs Campbell bun sgoil for organising a fantastic number of events celebrating the schools baton relay. The baton arrived with the school on Friday 22nd November. The baton was enthusiastically welcomed by the whole school in the playground. On Monday the school had assemblies to celebrate the baton, the assemblies included parents who had lived in New Zeland (bun sgoil twinned country), who talked about what it was like to live there. Rory Macdiarmid sang the New Zeland national anthem and there were performances from Pol Monk, and a fantastic dance from highland dancers Caragh Mackinnon, Iona MacKay and Abbie MacNeil. The girls created their own dance for this event and it was so good they were asked to perform at the Glasgow schools dance competition on Thursday 28th and received a standing ovation from the judges.

Wednesday 27th saw the baton depart the school. We had to take the baton to Cadder Primary. Bun Sgoil and Ard Sgoil were both involved in this. The baton was first taken through the park by the bun sgoil cross country team. Fionn Whyte, Finlay Benton were also selected to run with the baton due to their achievements in sport.  Mia and Robyn Paton were on their BMX bikes. Both Mia and Tobyn are competing at international level in BMX so deserved to be involved.

After running through the park the baton was handed over to the pupils on the bus who were taking it to Cadder. The bus had a number of pupils including Zach Ronan, Pol Monk, Rory MacDiarmid and Andrew Grossart who did a number of tunes for Cadder.

Well done to all pupils and staff involved with the Baton organisation and performances. The commonwealth games is next summer with many events taking part close to the school itself. A lot of the pupils and staff will now be aware of the games thanks to the events this week. This was helped also by a surprise appearance by Clyde the official mascot for the games. Clyde appeared at the bun sgoil assembly and got the pupils into a frenzy with his high 5s and dancing!
