Glasgow Gaelic School Cross Country Championships
Congratulations to all S1-3 pupils who took part in the Glasgow Gaelic School Cross Country Championships. The event was held last Monday in Bellahouston Park in what could be described as horrendous conditions. The races were run together due to driving wind and rain and all 57 pupils did well to compete the race.
There was a very exciting race in the Boys event who ran two laps, Fionn Whyte was closely followed by Samuel Down in the first of two laps, the gap to 3rd was 50m and it was Fergus O'Hanlon who was looking strong at he half way point. When the runners were coming into the final 200m, it was still the same order however Fionn was working very hard to hold off Samuel who was appling pressure. Fergus had ran a very well judged race and sprinted past Samuel into 2nd but ran out of time to catch Fionn who held off for the win.
Boys
1st Fionn Whyte
2nd Fergus O'Hanlon
3rd Samuel Down
In the Girls race after the first of two laps Mairi and Rosie both S2 were running together and looking comfortable well ahead of the pack. Mairi pushed hard to create a gap between her and Rosie in the 2nd lap all the way to the finish. Anna NicGriogair S1 did very well to finish in 3rd place, beating all the other girls in the race and even stopping to help Rebecca find her glasses which had flown off in the wind.
Girls
1st Mairi MacDonald
2nd Rosie Urquhart
3rd Anna NicGriogair
Thanks to all those teachers and pupils who helped out on the day to make the event a success.

Glasgow Gaels Shinty Success
The Glasgow Gaels held the First Shinty National Qualifiers on the 3rd February in the Bellahouston Sports Day. We had one team in p7 competition and two in the p5. It was a fantastic day off hints with the winners qualifying for Finals in Fort William on 2nd March. The p7 had already qualified but they still can second in their competition. The p5a team won their competition and now qualify. The p5b team played fantastic considering a lot of them it was their first time in a tournament and with players they hadn't played with. All players got certificates for taking part and the winners and runners up got medals. P5a also won a cup.
For the first time very Glasgow Gaels have a team in both competitions at Fort William. We are very proud of the players and they will go and give their best at Fort William.
