Girls Football


The Girls Football team is now upand running. Can anyone interested please come along to training on Mondays after school. Any ability level can come along and have some fun playing football with your friends and we can build up our skill.

Abbie MacNeil Champion of Champions

Abbie MacNeil S4 has had a tremendous year on the Highland Dancing circuit. On Sunday Abbie won the Solway Championships in Dumfries adding to the multiple titles she has won this year. In the Solway Championships Abbie came in 1st place in 12 different dances and was judged to be have been best dancer in each of those 12 events by all 3 judges. Abbie has recently been announced the Champion of Champions because of her overall successes this year. Below you can see the list of Abbie's achievements in 2012:

Shinty Update from Spòrs Ghlaschu

Just a quick update from the shinty section for September 2012.

Results
During September the SGG Shinty Club has continued it success.
On 7 September 21 Teams from all over Scotland attended a one day tournament in Milngavie.
Glasgow Gaelic School Under 8 team were unbeatable on the day and comfortably won the Margaret Ross Cup beating
Strathkelvin 6 -2 in the Final. Not to be out done the under 10 Team also enjoyed a great day and went on beat
St Columbas - Oban 5-2 in hard fought final winning the John MacLean Shield.
On 30 September the first round of the 2012/13 South of Scotland Leagues started and a big Well Done must go to
10 new players from P1,2& 3 who played there first games for the Club.

Training
The last outdoor training will be on Monday 8 October.
Indoor training will commence on Monday 22 October at the 3 Gym Halls at Bellahouston Academy
6pm-7pm - New Starts & Development training
7pm - 8pm - Under 10s12s &14s

Cheilidh Fund Raising Dance
To buy new strips for the young new starts, the club are holding a fund raising Cheildh at the SPRA Club Lochinch Pollok Park on Friday 5 October 2012 8 till Late. All welcome, and some of the Funds raised on the night will be donated to Mary's Meals……

School Concert

A big well done to all pupils who performed last night at the school concert! A variety of musical talent was on display and the audience were very appreciative of the live entertainment and the efforts of the pupils and staff.

Cameron Kirkwood to Represent Scotland



Congratulations to Cameron Kirkwood who has gained selection for the Scotland Golf Team in an International match against England. Cameron has had a fantastic year and has thoroughly deserved his call up to the National Team. Cameron's match is at Pannal Golf Club in Harrogate at the weekend and we wish him the best of luck in this event. Here are just some of Cameron's achievements in 2012:


2012 – Represented Scotland in the Under 16, 4 Nations Development Quadrangular Tournament at Templepatrick (Scotland won the tournament).

2012 – Represented Scotland at the Nations Cup (under 16) at Trevose Golf Club (finished 10th place overall in the singles tournament).

2012 – Represented Scotland (under 16) in friendly match against France at Strathaven Golf Club (won tie).

2012 – Representing Scotland (under 16) against England at Pannal Golf Club (Oct 7th).

2012 – Finished 10th place in the Scottish Boys Championship (under 18) at Cardross Golf Club.

2012 – Selected for the Scottish Boys Development Squad (under 18).

2012 – 27th in the Order of Merit (under 18).

2012 – Gents Club Champion – Bearsden Golf Club.


Good Luck to Cameron West S1

Congratulations to Cameron West who has been selected for the Scotland Tae Kwon Do Team. Cameron will compete at the World Cup in Brighton this week. We wish Cameron the best of luck for his training and competitions.

Glasgow Schools Swimming Prelims

Yesterday the Glasgow Swimming Prelims were held at Whitehill Pool. The Glasgow Gaelic School had eight pupils competing in various events:

Lewis Dickson 50m Butterfly and 50m Backstroke
Amy Craig 50m Breaststroke
Iain Campbell 50m Freestyle
Fraser Watt 50m Freestyle
Shannon Beattie Lifesaving and 100m Breaststroke
Shannon McShane Lifesaving and 100m Freestyle
Rachael Lyons 100m Freestyle
Anna Matheson 100m Freestyle

All pupils did very well in their event competitions. The quality of swimming was very high, competing against very experienced swimmers with the majority involved in swimming clubs.

Although it was a Prelim for the Finals night in a few weeks some Finals were held yesterday. Shannon Beattie and Shannon McShane got a bronze medal in the Lifesaving event. Also Lewis Dickson performed very well to place in the top 6 in the backstroke and butterfly and qualify for the finals at the end of October.

Well done to all who took part.
