SGG are going to the World Schools’ Netball Cup!
We have been invited to take part in the World Schools Netball Cup in Loughborough in June 2025! What a fantastic opportunity for the girls and something which signifies the development of netball that has taken place in the school over the last 10 years. We will be taking a team from S2-S5 to take part in the u17 event. Here are a list of the players taking part:
Anais
Sophie
Eilidh W
Eilidh T
Roseanna
Risha
Mairi
Sophia H
Iris

Good luck to the squad in their preparations for the event!
S1 Boys win Autumn Toryglen League
Wow! Congratulations to the S1 Team for winning the Toryglen League which ran from Autumn to Christmas time. This was a superb effort from all the players involved! You’ve put SGG on the football map! More to come in 2025 with the Spring League!
Glasgow Schools Swimming
Congratulations to Eilidh O’Henley for finishing with the bronze medal at the Glasgow Schools’ Swimming Championships. Eilidh was competing in the 100m Backstroke. Well done Eilidh!
Netball Friendlies
A huge well done to our S1s who played some friendly netball matches against an S1/2 Hillhead team! It was a thoroughly enjoyable day with 27 SGG girls getting experience or playing the sport against another school which is hugely important for their development
.
.
Christmas Cup
A huge well done to the S1/2 Girls football team for finishing 2nd at the Glasgow Football Christmas Cup. 16 teams took part and the girls finished 2nd after a nerve wracking shootout. Myla was our player of the day and her experiences with Celtic have made her into the most exciting football player the school has ever seen.
Christmas Quiz
Thanks to all the pupils and staff who took part in our Christmas Quiz! We had lots of fun and it was a great way to end term!

Scottish Cup Opponents
So we have an electric schedule of netball coming up after the new year.
In the Scottish Cup…
The S1’s are against Strathaven
The S2’s are against Glasgow Academy
The Seniors are against Holy Cross High School
In the Glasgow Leagues
The S1’s will play Hyndland, Shawlands and John Paul
The S2-4 Team Black will play All Saints, Hyndland, Jordanhill and Shawlands.
The S2-4 Team Red who have won one game already will also play: St Paul’s, Hyndland and Jordanhill.
Good luck to all our teams in what is a busy but exciting g term of netball!
Glasgow City State Schools Road Relay
Well what a race it was. This year all schools who had entered previously had improved their times compared to previous years. This was one of the aim when I set up the state schools track and field that pupils would get the opportunity to participate in road, athletics and cross country events but also that the standard would improve for all schools. A big well done to all the schools who took part and made this years event a brilliant one to spectate. SGG Red made it 4 wins in a row. Something which they had to work extremely hard for.
